Whether you have an actual allergy or just plain feel better when you avoid gluten, you’re part of a growing group of people when you choose to eat a gluten-free diet.
Despite its popularity, avoiding gluten in your diet may not be as easy as one would think. For one, gluten tends to lurk in unexpected places. Always remember: If a product is manufactured in the U.S. with wheat, it must disclose that on the label (typically at the bottom of the ingredient list); but it does not have to disclose other gluten culprits, such as barley and rye—and all bets are off if the product is made outside of the United States.
